It’s been a long time coming since I could get out the country again, in any official capacity. For what I consider my life’s work, it meant a lot for me to be able to do so. But it certainly took waiting, and patience, and obedience, discipline and persistence. What do I mean? Well, put shortly, it meant I had to suck up my wanderlust, carry out the abhorred mundanity of corporate life, and wait on the Lord to provide an opportunity to do what I desire, within His will.
It was not easy. But it was worth it.
My trip to México just a couple weeks ago was nothing short of amazing. I am so thankful to have gone on an amazing trip with amazing people. Continue reading “México: A Pictorial Testimony”
Oh. My. Gosh.
First off, I’d be remiss if I did not take pause and acknowledge that I have been praying and crying, pleading and fasting for this moment for years. Ever since studying abroad in the U.K. in 2011, I’ve been dying to get out of the country again and to do international work.
Now here it is. Not by my own strength. And certainly not by my own qualification. Continue reading “Just Shy of Mexico”
I can imagine the care and industrious attentiveness the women had when they prepared the spices for their beloved Jesus. I can imagine how numb and withdrawn the hearts and minds were of all the disciples, of Jesus’ loved ones, and of the multitudes that followed Him throughout His ministry. I can picture a great fog of quiet despair – completing motions but not really feeling them, hearing but not listening at all. Continue reading “The Resurrected King of Glory”
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for dying on the Cross for my sins. Thank You Lord for leaving Your throne. Lord, I thank You for every stripe on Your back, every slur You endured but did not deserve. Thank You for Your Blood. I thank You God that You bore the weight of my sins on Your shoulders, that You received my punishment, so that I might be saved. I thank You Lord that You died and that You conquered the grave that I might believe. Thank You Jesus for staying there when You could have come down. Thank You Lord for thinking of me. In Your precious Name I pray, Amen. Continue reading “Good Friday: A Meditation on the Cross”
I have a million things going on right now. A delegation trip to prepare for, a venture into entrepreneurship in transition, a book to write, errands to run, a dog to groom. Oh, and my apartment has termites. And that just scratches the surface of the nightmare that is my to-do list.
You know what this all leads to? Burnout. Stress. Busyness that never ends. A perpetual need to achieve perfection and a perpetual disappointment at having not achieved it. Continue reading “Palm Sunday & A Call to Rest”
Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.
“And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”
Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”
So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.
And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
Now Martha, as soon as she had heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting at the house.
Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
“But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”
Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
John 11: 14-23 NKJV

Welp, what I know is that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. Whatever He intends to become of this new blog surely will be! Especially since this is around my 3rd or 4th attempt at blogging. Yet, for some reason I feel like this time will stick.
“Jesus is why I am so pretty” means that there is more to me and you than meets the eye. It means that we should use every opportunity aimed at exalting ourselves to instead exalt Jesus Christ. And it also means that anything good or joyful or radiant you see coming from me, is absolutely and most certainly because of Him. Continue reading “Introducing JIWIASP – Is This Even a Good Idea?”
